Summary On "Because I Am Furniture"

The book that I was reading is called "Because I Am Furniture". The book is on Anke's point of view, it's like she's telling the story. Anke is living with an abusive father. Her mother, brother, and sister are all scared of him. Her dad will get mad at her and her siblings for the smallest things ever! Anke is in high school and so are her siblings, but they don't talk to each other when they're at school. In the book, Anke says that she is invisible, like furniture because no one really pays attention to her. She joined the volleyball team, even though her dad told her not to. During the volleyball practices she has to call for the ball but never does and always misses. Throughout the book, Anke is getting more and more determined and finding courage in herself. She finally gets the courage to call for the volleyball when it's coming toward her, and she sometimes gets determined and respond back to her father when she would get into trouble with him. At the end of the book Anke is determined of what she does and isn't afraid anymore. She is no longer invisible like furniture. I think that this book was great because it showed a lot of courage in her and all the troubles she had to get through, like how everyday life is!
